AN OVERLY -FAMILIAR ATTITUDE

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! Here is the word for your meditation and prayer this morning. I continue to share the word of encouragement concerning offenses that  are triggered by different actions and behaviours in life. The title of my message is:" AN OVERLY - FAMILIAR  ATTITUDE"

It is very common that when people get overly- familiar with you they lose respect on you, even if you deserve recognition and respect because of the office or portfolio which you hold in society. Furthermore, even if you are a man or woman of God, some people may miss out on their blessings, because of failing to recognize the spiritual leadership and anointing bestowed in a particular office or ministry. Some people can become offended at you for simply speaking the truth, but don't allow it to depress you or make you feel guilty.

The Bible says, " Don't you dare lay a hand on my anointed, don't hurt a hair on the heads of my prophets." ( Psalm 105:15 MSG) There is need to respect every person in accordance with what they deserve. Give honour to whoever deserves the honour and respect.  Remember, Jesus, who always  spoke the truth, offended religious leaders. Jesus made this statement  about the residents of  Nazareth, who held an overly- familiar  attitude toward Him: " A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house."( Matthew 13:57)

So, don't be surprised if your family, friends, or co - workers get offended at you in the same way. In fact, you can expet it. Another example of an overly- familiar attitide can occur between a husband and wife. When a wife becomes overly - familiar with her husband, she may prefer going to the pastor or the  elders of the church for prayer, instead of her husband. That can happen to any of us when we know the weaknesses and strengths of others.

However, you avoid becoming offended by familiarity by separating the person and all their weaknesses from the anointing that abides within them. The natural, human things that everyone does, like living dirty socks on the floor, can cause  those familiar with this behavior to question their spiritual abilities. A wife may ask herself, " How can I receive from this man when he doesn't even have enough sense to pick up his dirty socks?"

However, when you separate the natural man from the anointing, you will be able to receive the Word of God from him. Become  aware  of the possibility of offense occuring in your everyday life, then resist the temptation to be offended.

The Bible also says, " Woe  unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man  by whom the offence cometh!(Matthew  18:7)

Repeat this aloud: " Today, I forgive those who have wronged me. I let go of the offense that has clung to me for years.  By faith, I release offense and let it go. By the power of God that works through me, I declare by faith that offense has to flee, in the name of Jesus."( Ephesians 3:20, Isaiah  43:25, Ephesians 4:31-32).

I pray that you be separated from the spirit overly - familiarity and unforgiveness, in the name of Jesus.
Strive to avoid provocation and over- reaction in the name of Jesus.

May God richly bless you all!
