BECOME A GOOD SHEPHERD

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! Here is the word for your meditation and prayer!
The title of my message is: " BECOME A GOOD SHEPHERD"  Shepherding is a call and not a career. Therefore it requires total commitment, love, patience and compassion.

The Bible says, " But ye that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the  sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth,  because he is an hireling,  and careth not for the sheep." ( John 10:12-13)

Become a good shepherd by being the opposite of a hireling. It takes almost nothing for a hireling to abandon his sheep. But a real shepherd will not easily leave the sheep. He gives his entire life to shepherding, because he is not just a hired hand. Become a good shepherd by acting as the owner of the sheep. Because if you own something, you will not neglect or abandon it. Having an owernership mentality about anything transforms it.

This is the reason for the worlwide privatization of many government owned entities. Anything that is not owned by specific people is not cared for or managed properly. This is why you find that even some people don't manage well or properly look after houses and buildings which they are renting. God wants every shepherd to treat the sheep with the love and care of an owner and not with the mind of a heartless employee.

Become a good shepherd by noticing when the sheep are in danger. Someone who does not love you will not even notice when you are in mortal danger. Even in a family set up, the Father and mother, must notice the condition of their children. In the same way the husband must notice their wife if she is not well and or worried. Same applies to the wife, she must also notice that her husband today there is something which is not right. Let us love and take care of one another.

Most people just think about themselves, which is a selfish mentality, that is not good. You would be surprised to know that people care more about their headache than your cancer. A good shepherd notices when their sheep are in distress. Don't just be a shepherd who wants the sheep's milk and wool, but you must take care of the sheep well, so that it may continue to give you more milk and meat. Even little things are picked up by a good shepherd. Unfortunately a hireling does not even see when the sheep are dying.

Become a good shepherd by staying with the sheep in times of trouble. A shepherd must be there when the trouble is at its peak. The shepherd must be found standing by the grave, in the hospital, at the operating theatre, by the bedside or wherever the trouble has struck. Bad shepherds visit the sheep to get money from them, when they are rich. But good shepherds are there in times of trouble.

Become a good shepherd by knowing your sheep intimately.
In this discourse about the good shepherd, Jesus emphasizes how the shepherd knows the sheep.
This knowledge becomes more intimate and more detailed as life goes on. Pastors often  realize that they never really knew their sheep, when they discover amazing truths about their sheep after years of pastoring them. You will discover that intimate detailed knowledge of each and every sheep is a must for real shepherding work.

Everyone is a shepherd in their on right and domain. You can be a father or mother, you must play your own role of shepherding your family.
In whatever capacity you may be in, play your role of being a good shepherd and  steward.
Don't abandon your sheep. Don't abandon your family and your employees. Be a good employer, who has compassion towards his workers. Be a good father who is loving, caring and SUPPORTIVE.  Be a good mother who is kind and welcoming, as well as approachable and loving all the time.

Let the mind that was in Christ be in you, who was prepared to die for the sake of saving you and me.
That kind of love is surely amazing and awesome. ( John 3:16, Philippians 2:5-11, Lamentations 3:31-33, Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 13:5-6, John 13:34-35, Colossians 3:16-17, Ezekiel 34:1-23).

Ezekiel 34:3-4 says, " Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed, but ye feed not the flock.
The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have you ruled them."

Once again become a good shepherd, with a good heart, love, kindness, patience, compassion, longsuffering and  mercy. ( Galatians 5:22-23). Shepherd, feed,  love and heal the sheep's wounds .

May God richly bless you all!
