TRUE MEANING OF HUMILITY FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! I thank God once again  for giving us yet another day to be able to share the Word of God. I want to share the subject of humility from a Biblical perspective. The title of my message is: " TRUE MEANING OF HUMILITY FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE ".

I want to quickly mention that many people have the wrong idea about God, the Bible and humility,  or being humble.
They think being humble means groveling in front of others or thinking they are no good and others are better.

The scripture in Philippians 2:3 says, " Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."
Those who think they are not good and others are better  like I mentioned earlier, is not what the Bible says.

God says when you are humble, you are free from pride  and arrogance.
You know that in your flesh you are inadequate, yet you also know who you are in Christ.
You don't need to defend yourself when you understand what the Bible says about humility, for you know who you are in Christ.

You can be a peacemaker without needing to fight for your rights.
You can walk humbly in the power of the Holy Spirit, not in your own strength.
Godly  humility is being comfortable with who you are in the Lord and therefore putting others first.

The picture of humility in the Bible is one of a strong person who loves others, not someone who is wimp. Humility is about removing a selfish spirit in you, and replacing it with the love and consideration for others first. ( John 13:34-35)

Humility is also recognizing that you need God's help, knowing you can't truly succeed in your own strength.
It is thanking God for your talents and  gifts, and giving him credit for your accomplishments. ( Psalm 115:1).

It is being comfortable with who you are in Christ and seeking to build others up, not yourself.
It is gratefully  walking in God's grace, love, and forgiveness.
In the Bible, Jesus gives us a good example of humility in action. Although he was the son  of God,  he was gentle and humble - and he was strong. " I am gentle and humble in heart. " ( Matthew 11:29).

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death- even death on the cross! " ( Philippians 2:5-8).

Remember, humility is not being weak or passive.
You can still defuse arguments when you are humble.
You don't need to stand up for yourself in an angry manner.

And you don't have to win every argument. The Bible says, " A gentle answer  turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs  up anger. ( Proverbs 15:1).
You can handle unfair treatment peacefully when you are humble.

You can respond to unfair treatment, without becoming bitter.
Godly humility means you do not feel a need for vengeance or revenge. ( Romans 12:14-17). " Get rid of all bitterness,  rage and anger, browling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. ( Ephesians 4:31-32).
You can ask for forgiveness when you are humble, even when someone has hurt you.  ( Matthew 5:23-24).

Bible- based humility does not mean being unaware of your gifts or calling.  " Although  I am less than the least of all of God's people, this grace was given to me: to preach to the gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ".( Ephesians 3:8).  " I am not in the least inferior to the " super - apostles," even though I am nothing," ( 2 Corinthians 12:11).

Finally let me say you will usually be more successful when you practice what the Bible says about God and humility, than if you are pushy or arrogant.
Humility earns you influence and honour.  ( Proverbs 22:4)

May I therefore encourage all of us to endeavour to practice the God- kind of humility in our Christian journey. ( James 4:10).
When you understand the meaning of humility in the Bible and  put it into practice, you are a winner -even if you do not " win."

May God richly bless you all!

LET THE HOLY SPIRIT LEAD

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! Once again     " Let the Holy Spirit lead." It is the Holy Spirit that helps us to function and be active as a body of Christ.

The Bible says,“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”(John6:63)
When we speak the word of God, we breathe life in it and it becomes rhema (living word).
The scripture also says,"To a natural man, the words of Jesus Christ and the message of the cross are all foolishness (1 Corinthians 2:14, 1 Corinthians 1:18).

A person who is not living in the Spirit cannot comprehend the message of Jesus Christ, because it originates from the Holy Spirit. This is why it takes the Holy Spirit to enlighten the eyes of the natural man’s understanding and convict his heart, before he can accept Jesus Christ into his life.(Romans 10:9-10)

To live in the Spirit, you need the Holy Spirit to quicken you.
It is His work to make you alive and to strengthen you spiritually.
When you are down or tired, if you pray in the Spirit long enough, you will find the strength to undertake the assignment ahead of you.( Romans 8:26-27).

Every assignment that God has for you is first spiritual and then physical.
Whatever happens in the physical, originates first in the spiritual realm, before manifesting in the physical.

This is why you cannot effectively perform a divine assignment using only physical means.
Even when you have to undertake the physical aspects of a divine assignment, you need spiritual stamina or input to be effective.( Acts 4:30-31).

Moreover, if you live in the Spirit, you should also be led by the Spirit. (Galatians 5:16-17).
Who leads you, reveals who owns you (Romans 6:16).
To understand what it means to be led by the Spirit, read up the account of the operations of the Holy Spirit in the life of Philip in Acts 8:26-40.

If you are saved and you barely receive divine guidance from the Holy Spirit, you are still a babe in the Kingdom; but if you are regularly led of the Holy Spirit – meaning you hear His voice and follow His instructions – then you have most likely attained the level of maturity in the faith where you can be called a son (Hebrews 5:11-14).

God is looking for sons and daughters, not just babes!
There are several Kingdom assignments that God wants to give out, but He is looking for sons to take them up.
Sons and daughters hear His voice and obey promptly, but babes find it difficult even to  recognize God’s voice.(John10:3).

Sons and daughters are guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth, because they can accept it and run with it, but babes cannot stand certain truths (John 16:12-13).
If there are some truth from God’s word that can make you to turn back from following the Lord, you are still a babe and not yet a son or daughter.

The word of God contains depths of truth.
While babes read through it without getting much, sons and daughters carefully go step by step through it to harness the volumes of truth contained in it.( Joshua 1:8, Luke 5:4).

Are you a baby, son or daughter?
From what I have just explained above, you now know who you are in Christ Jesus.
Just pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you all the time.

Father, give me ears that hear your Spirit, and give me a heart that follows His leading in Jesus name we pray- Amen!
May God richly bless you all!
